The Township has been notified on behalf of the Developer, Hillwood, that beginning the week of October 11, 2021, blasting will commence at the property most commonly known as Garrod Farm, located at the corner of Locust Point Road and Canal Road Extended.
“We have a tentative date of Thursday 10/14 for our first blast at the Trade Center 83 Project. It is planned to blast in the late morning to early afternoon time frame. The blast itself will only last 1 to 2 seconds. Seismographs will be set up to monitor the blast at the closest residences. If the weather does not cooperate on Thursday, we may have to reschedule.”
Using Explosives are highly regulated and requires permits at the state level. Per Department of Environmental Protection (DEP), many people are often concerned about the effects blasting may have on their home because blasting may cause homes to shake. The effects of blasting may rattle windows, dishes and pictures hung on the wall.
Please call the Township Office to receive the site contact information for any concerns or complaints regarding this project. Blasting reports are required by the Township Ordinances and are public record upon request to review. We do not receive these reports right away. It does take a few weeks for the Township to receive them.
You may also contact DEP for further complaints in regards to Explosive Regulation in Pennsylvania. The second page of this document gives contact information.
Thank you for your understanding and patience during this time.
